Peplum Detailed Ankara top |
Prints are never going to go out of style and a great way to incorporate them into your wardrobe is to use African prints! In todays post I am sharing with you how to rock African fabric (also called “ankara”, “chitenge”, “Kitenge”or “dutch wax” depending on where you are) effortlessly with items already in your closet. This top comes with a full skirt which I am yet to showcase.
Its undeniable that African fashion has had a more than positive turn in recent years. Lately, its been featured in top venues such as fashion week and even in mainstream press. With the likes of Beyonce rocking the print, its no wonder we all want to get our hands on the print. My number one tip for getting African print clothing is to buy your own material and have it custom made . You will be amazed as to how many outfits you would make out of a 6-4 yards of material at a reasonable price.
I decided to pair my peplum top with my fav pair of ripped jeans. Alternatively it can be worn with a black pencil skirt for a quick evening outfit. Combining two trends together – ripped jeans and prints – is just fab in my opinion. Jeans work well to calm down the colorful print fabrics; and in return the prints deliver a great pop of color to the jeans. A win win situation I say.
So whats your take? Have you combined jeans with African prints yet? Have you seen any other cool combinations? Kindly leave me a comment. I enjoy hearing back from you guys. Have a fabulous weekend.
