People in The Netherlands wear darker colours but that’s just not me. I prefer a hint of colour hence why I added my favourite camel coat. Though technically it was a bit chilly hence why I carried my coat. I went for a pair of houndstooth pants and kept it simple with a white shirt.

Hey guys, so I am back in the UK, but still dreaming of the city of Amsterdam. I promised to share more pics with you guys. On this particular day we walked around the Amsterdam canals and it was fun packed. First of all ,having to dodge cyclist left right and centre, was a mission because I am not accustomed to the cycling norm. It is definitely a fact that you get to see more of the beautiful city on the canals so we definitely had to go on a canal cruise. The day canal cruise was exciting and I learnt some interesting facts about the boat houses, which are plenty in numbers. In the past, houses became expensive and so people decided to move into their boats which were transformed into proper boat houses.
I consider this city to be romantic and the view is spectacular at night. Besides the great view, you are likely to see some people casually chilling with hardly any clothes on whilst the boat ride. After all its in the comfort of their own homes. One other thing to bare in mind whilst in Amsterdam, now this was a shocking experience, is that if you ever decide on visiting a spa, remember to ask for non-nude days (days when bathing suits are allowed). Yes you heard me right! We (my bf and I) were shocked at the fact that we were the only couple there were in bathing suits. Lets just say we left, the sooner we got there.
Where to stay
Ideally I would say probably in Amsterdam central due to its proximity to points of interest and major tourist attractions .However, if you like to explore, surrounding places like Amstel or Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA would be ideal. We stayed at the holiday inn which is located near the train station and the stadium( home of Ajax). The view from our room was lovely and I love the fact that it felt like home away from home. The breakfast is off the chain too.
Where to eat
One thing I absolutely loved about Amsterdam is their chips/fries . Dutch chips definitely tick my box especially when dipped in some creamy mayonnaise ( yes I am one of those people who dips almost every food into Mayo . I just can’t help it ).
De Veranda is a place we unintentionally came across after the spa ordeal. It is located in the south of Amsterdam near Amsterdamse Bos and they serve classic dishes, sometimes with a twist . I enjoyed their food and customer service was amazing . It’s admirable how waiters /waitresses try their best to cater to non-Dutch customers . The last thing one would want is to go and eat in a place were you cannot relay what you exactly want to the waiter/waitress .
We also visited Sky lounge bar and restaurant at the Double tree Hilton hotel . It’s one of the best rooftop bars in Amsterdam with great ambience and breathtaking view of the city.Their cocktails are lush , but avoid their buffalo wings as they are extremely hot. I was gulping down a jug of water at the end of it all. Ok that’s a hyperbole but seriously take caution.
Lastly the place I would recommend is dinner on the evening canal cruise . You get a three course meal, with overflowing wine of your choice . Enjoy a lovely romantic meal with your loved one with a breathtaking view. Amsterdam is equally as beautiful at night. To top it up you get a tea or coffee with Dutch biscuits as the night winds down. For me who loves tea that’s a bonus .
Hope you have enjoyed this post. Do you have any holidays planned? If so were are you off to? I would like to know, so feel free to leave your comments down below. Catch up with you later guys.
